16:16 < ivan_bev> presentation doesn't appear to be online (for following by remote participants) - is that correct?
16:17 < menno> indeed, presenter gave the presentation to the tech support guys on a usb stick I think
16:17 < ivan_bev> kthx. hopefully it'll be updated in time
16:17 * kralian_dk-denet giggles
16:18 < kralian_dk-denet> brilliant talk :)
16:18 < ivan_bev> It's rather concerning and quite telling that copyright trumps national security!
16:19 < AlisonW> He seems to be suggetsing that Google/YouTube are more afraid of civil action than of state action. /me mutters something about crazy americans ;-P
16:19 -!- ripe553 [~7d1 [at] rosie-arch [dot] ipv6 [dot] ripe [dot] net] has joined #plenary
16:19 < AlisonW> presumably because civil enforcement would affect their cash reserves whereas state annoyance doesn't concern them
16:19 < will-h> AlisonW: not sure DMCA is civil enforcement
16:20 < AlisonW> imho it is treated as such - copyright is civil in reality even if some states overplay it because of music/film industry pressure

16:46 < Fergal_ripencc> @ripe037. Sure. When he asks for questions I can go up and ask for you. You just need to let me know your question, your name and affiliation.
16:47 < Fergal_ripencc> He's said "Finally"... so if you have a question please ask now.
16:47 < ripe037> Thank you very mcuh. My name is Mile, from LJubljana.
16:47 < ripe037> QUESTION: Right now there's a lot of talk about ransomcrypt trojan here in Slovenia. I noticed that ransomer uses a gmail account - it is cleraly visible in trojan's ransom demand file. What does Gmail team do in this case? Will this gmail account be desabled? Is it already disabled?
16:47 < Fergal_ripencc> Who is this?
16:48 < ripe037> I'm following the stream.
16:48 < will-h> ripe037: i think he just wants to know your name
16:48 < ripe037> Name is Mile.
16:49 < Fergal_ripencc> Thanks.
16:49 < ripe037> thank you.
16:53 < AlisonW> there doesn't appear to be a need to identify _which_ phone number with _which_ account though - so google appear to be storing data without a need. Correct?

16:54 < Fergal_ripencc> Should I ask that Alison?

16:55 < Fergal_ripencc> Mike has finished now.
16:56 < AlisonW> was a Q, but never mind (i tweeted it now ;-P )
16:56 < Fergal_ripencc> Next up is the special RIPE NCC: 20 Years Serving the RIPE Community
16:56 < AlisonW> BSS27-RIPE: thankfully Google do not have any phone numbers associated with my gmail / google accounts
16:57 < boggits> yet....
16:57 < Fergal_ripencc> The three speakers will be Daniel Karrenberg, Nigel Titley and Geoff Huston. Axel Pawlik, the RIPE NCC Managing Director, is the moderator.

17:24 < AlisonW> My main site servers are all native IPv6 connected and responding, but just realised second site has IPv6 connect but websites aren't using it! (sorting this now - that advantage of online attendance)

17:26 < shane> Yes, understood, but this section is 'by the members, for the members'.
17:26 < shane> We have time on Wednesday to talk to the members, right?

17:33 < louflynn> Download these slides - they are a hoot!
17:36 < AlisonW> "No need for new content"? Now that *is* frightening!
17:36 < shane> Meaning we don't special mobile content. The current stuff is just fine, thanks.
17:37 < keith-1280> cheap because its made in Chinese sweatshop...
17:38 * AlisonW will never buy something from Apple. But I seem to be weird like that
17:38 < keith-1280> +1
17:38 < shane> +1
17:38 < will-h> why? the laptops are quite good
17:38 < will-h> i dont like the telephones
17:39 < AlisonW> too walled-system and closed to new opportunities. I don't like gatekeepers who want me to do things *their* way not the way *I* want
17:39 < will-h> you can put any OS on it
17:40 < AlisonW> ahuh. keep telling yourself that ;-P #inherentlimitsinhardware
17:40 < will-h> the bootloader isnt locked, afaik apple are not doing this unlike some of the other manufs
17:40 < AlisonW> rofl "We're professionals - we don't plan ahead"
17:41 < shane> So, APNIC has had no addresses for a year now. What happens when the wall is hit?

17:44 < shane> Geoff finds is surprising that people cannot predict the future.
17:44 < shane> Hm...
17:44 < shane> s/is/it/
17:45 * AlisonW used arpanet in 1970s
17:45 < tm-34670> it's odd they removed ipv6 from the latest airport utility
17:45 < AlisonW> they did? shortsighted decision ...
17:46 < will-h> airport utility, now there is an example of truly dreadful stuff

17:47 < AlisonW> Not sure I want my servers connected by anything other than fibre / copper, certainly not radio freq
17:47 < shane> But there's gigabit wireless on the way!
17:48 < AlisonW> yes, but within my servers I don't want to make it easier for someone to hack or hijack
17:48 < keith-1280> wireless bandwidth has scaled much faster than fibre over the past 5 years, I'll be surpirsed this can continue
17:48 < AlisonW> and gig wireless is way too limiting for a server farm wanting a link to peering centre / backbone
17:49 < AlisonW> but for *users* yes

17:49 < shane> The chart seems to indicate that adoption rates are more-or-less constant.
17:50 < Bernd_Marienfeldt> Let's wait until refrigirators become your customers :-)
17:51 < keith-1280> a truly chilling thought :-)
17:51 < AlisonW> IP-enabled fridges can place online orders from supermarkets ...
17:51 < AlisonW> when the recognise contents are low
17:51 < AlisonW> sp /the/they/
17:51 < shane> Alison - I heard that story 10 years ago. I eagerly await my IP refrigerator.
17:52 < AlisonW> yeah, quite. But they are around (allegedly!)
17:52 < lochii> IPv6 refrigerator :)
17:52 < Bernd_Marienfeldt> lol
17:52 < AlisonW> lochii: better!
17:52 < RobL> "order this food and then just waste it for me automatically..."
17:52 < shane> I guess when the stores all embed RFID in everything it may make sense.
17:53 < AlisonW> shane: actually it is when *manugfacturers* do that. iirc Gilette has started doing so on some product lines
17:53 < Bernd_Marienfeldt> RFIDIDIOT would loveit, even v6
17:53 < AlisonW> erm. "twps - every home has one" is a very first-world biased statement
17:54 < AlisonW> taps, obv.
17:54 < jcurran>
17:54 < AlisonW> nice presentation ;-P
